Betas are fun to watch and the sharp color and contrast of this painting really makes them jump to life, we used to have these two exactly, a male and a female, and they were perfect airbrush subjects. There is some watercolor brushwork here too in the scales, but mostly airbrush.
I used a cheaper airbrush for the large areas and the splatter effects, and a fine brush for the . . . fine airbrush work. :-)
